Corn on the cob

Put corn on the cob in a pot of boiling water and cook ten minutes.

In the Midwest USA, for summer sweet corn, we boil the water first, then put in the "ears" of corn (sometimes snapping them in half for easier eating). Bring the water back to boil and cook for three minutes. Then immediately remove the ears and the corn is perfect (the kernel skins are not tough). -- Brightpepper on Flickr
