Plum dumplings

Dumplings filled with plum jam or fresh plum, which are sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. The dumplings made of potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Cook a few dumplings at a time in salted water for about 10 minutes. After cooking put them in toasted bread crumbs and finally sprinkle with icing sugar. The result will be yummy.
I thought that plum dumpling is an authentic Hungarian food, but I googled it and found the Italian, and Croatian versions, too.

i like your blog and the style that you write about the hungarian food or even some food that you like that are not hungarian. Those little notes about how to make them is really useful and I am hoping to learn to make something hungarian :)

Saying the truth, usually I haven’t enough time and brave to translate my recipes (with my poor English), but Jason also asked the recipes. So I promise you that I’ll try to post my fallowing entries together with the recipes, and I hope that my translation will be understandable.

I was recently searching plum dumplings for a recipe my father used to make...I was born in Romania and when I saw the photo for your dumplings it was the same. My father just died 7 months ago and left me with vague memories of our cooking adventures, one day I would want them for my kids, if you would be so kind and if you have the recipe, would you be up to sharing?

I wonder why you don't also use their Hungarian name, "szilvás gombóc?" I enjoy your recipes and cooking tips, but maybe everyone would like to know their names in Hungarian. Usually Uncle Lajos makes the gombóc when the plums are in season, but now with your recipe and this one at another blog I can surprise him by making my own! -- Brightpepper at Flickr.
